“A friend of my father, Bondi Konreich, and Bondi’s father were in the camp so they stuck together. They went through the sauna and that night they saw the flames and the smoke and the smell. The next morning Mr Konreich told my father that what they had seen the night before were the bodies of their families burning.
That was his introduction to Auschwitz.”
